I’ve done numerous local home theater projects in private homes and timeshares, including 19 home theaters at the Tonopalo Private Residence Club in Tahoe Vista, CA and dozens of other North Lake Tahoe homes.

My typical home theater client is looking for a great looking at great sounding home theater system, usually including a flat panel TV, surround sound, and a single integrated remote control at an affordable price. This is my specialty.

Perhaps the most common request I get from clients is to simplify their use and enjoyment of their home entertainment system through providing a single, easy to use remote control that works with every component they have. It’s become a niche specialty for me as most home theater companies try to sell you a $1,000 remote and add on another $1,000+ for programming.

I use of the Logitech Harmony series of remote controls to meet my clients needs. Ranging in price from $100 to $350, with street prices averaging 20% less, they provide great functionality and ease of use at an incredible value. Of course, these remotes need to be installed and programmed, but the programming is so simple that it rarely requires more than 1-2 hours ($85 to $170). You’ve got to see these remotes to understand how truly simple they are to use.
